Education & Consulting
As a real estate instructor, I work through The Academy for Real Estate Education & Consulting, a school licensed by the Georgia Real Estate Commission (GREC) to offer pre-license, post-license, broker pre-license and continuing education courses and based in Savannah.
Through the school, I am able to develop my own courses and get them approved by GREC, and teach them throughout the state of Georgia. .
Some of the classes I teach include:
- Real Estate Pre-License – GREC requires that anyone wishing to become licensed to practice real estate in the state of Georgia must complete and successfully pass a 75-hour pre-license course. We offer this course in both Savannah and Brunswick about twice a year beginning in January and August. Fall 2010 class starts August 23. Click here for a current schedule. Contact me for more information!
- Contracts: Practical Applications – Developed out of the need to ensure agents are properly trained on the correct usage of our contracts and the peripheral forms (exhibits, addendas, amendments etc) that we need to use on a regular basis.
- Code of Ethics – Required by the National Association of REALTORS® for all its members. We are required to take this course once every four years. We are currently in our 3rd quadrennial. Usually offered in conjunction with our local association of REALTORS® for all its members at the New Agent Orientation
- Social Media: Business of the Future or an Excuse to Goof Around? : Yes, it is important for REALTORS to be socially networking. Why, some say we’re the masters of networking… only now, it has to be on-line! This course explains what it is, how it works and how it can help grow your business.
Some of the classes in the works include:
- Salesperson’s Post-License – GREC requires that a newly licensed agent complete a 25-hour Post License course within one year of licensure. This course will be called “Building a Foundation for Business in the 21st Century” focusing on current trends and concepts in real estate.
If you are interested in taking any of these courses or have questions about other courses we offer, simply post your question below and submit. Don’t worry, nothing get’s published for public view on the comments submitted below unless you want it to be published.

How do I get started in Pre-License online course, cost and method of mayment?
Thank You, Jim Owens
Click here for our registration site for the on-line prelicense course! This has all the info on price and since it’s all done on-line, you can pay by credit card.
Please keep in mind that the on-line course requires a lot of discipline and dedication to complete. It’s not for everyone. Personally, I took it when I got started and thought it was perfectly adequate, but others struggle through it needing deeper explanations, anecdotes etc to get their heads wrapped around various concepts. (Spoken like a true in-class instructor, huh?) It really depends on the individual.
Best of luck! l Let me know if you have any more questions!
I would like to see if you are offering a “in-classroom” session? I would think I would be better at the true in-class instructor…. Any help or suggestions?
Bradley
Bradley, think we spoke the other day. Our next in-class session is scheduled to start in August. Trying to get a class together during the summer months has proved futile in the past as people are unable to commit to the time required for the course during peak vacation season. August will be here before you know it. We will begin enrollment at the end of June with our early bird enrollment special. I have your email address and will send you a schedule and application when we have things firmed up!
