Who am I?

Midi Shaw, Associate Broker, GRI, ABR, SRS, ePRO

I am a REALTOR® based on St. Simons Island, Georgia with Coldwell Banker Platinum Partners. I specialize in residential sales throughout the Golden Isles and have ‘specialized’ farther into working with out-of-town Buyers and Sellers, understanding the unique needs created by distance and being able to bridge the gap through the latest technology and being willing and able to do the extra legwork often required when a client is not local.

I am a small business owner. As real estate licensees, most of us work as independent contractors for our Brokers. Therefore, we are primarily responsible for our own success in this industry. This mean that how I conduct business, the amount of time I devote to my business, the effort I put into my business, in what direction I take my business, is purely determined by me.

I am an educator. I suppose it is an extension of my desire to help people, in this case, my fellow real estate licensees, to learn and succeed. I am a strong believer that if more licensees were better educated, had a stronger knowledge base, that the real estate industry would be all the better for it with the public at large to benefit the most. Today, I develop courses for continuing education credit which I teach throughout this region of Georgia in addition to teaching the 75-hour Georgia salesperson prelicense course twice a year.

I am a consultant. I have evolved into a technology consultant mostly for real estate but often finding myself working with people in other fields as our needs are not always unique. Technology has changed the face of real estate over the past several years forcing real estate agents to adapt or die. As an educator with a fascination for technology, it was a natural marriage of interests and pursuits.

I am a leader. As a small business owner firmly rooted in the real estate industry, I have found it natural to become an active participant in my local, state and national real estate organization. What started out as committee involvement at the Golden Isles Association of REALTORS® has evolved into leadership roles where I can contribute and help shape the direction of our professional organizations not only locally but also at the state level.

What this ultimately means is that I am fully immersed in the real estate industry. For my clients, this means that they are working with someone who is completely committed and dedicated to this industry and isn’t dabbling in real estate, trying to make a fast buck or simply foolin’ around. It means I am up to speed on the technology to enable me to take full advantage of everything it has to offer in the way of marketing, communications and time management. It means I know enough to know I don’t know everything… but I will do my best to learn everything I can. It means that what I do know, I will gladly share with anyone who wants to know more.

It means I have a genuine desire to help people succeed…
